Lara Schwab grew up in Boerne, Texas, on a ranch where her family raised and showed Appaloosa horses. When the family moved to Plano, Texas, Lara worked for a small animal veterinarian which solidified her desire to become a veterinary professional herself. Now she serves clients and their pets regularly as Lead Veterinarian and Chief of Staff at Lakeway Animal Medical & Surgical Clinic!
Dr. Schwab attended Texas A&M University as a Biomedical Sciences major from 1994 to 1997. She was accepted early into Texas A&M’s College of Veterinary Medicine, graduating with her DVM in 2001. After working at several Texas animal hospitals, she moved from the Dallas/Fort Worth area to be closer to her extended family, joining the team at Lakeway Animal Medical and Surgical Clinic.
Dermatology, soft-tissue surgery, dentistry, and internal medicine are Dr. Schwab’s professional interests. She loves the challenges and methodical work involved in getting a great final result. She also likes educating clients so they can take care of their pets as best as they can!
Lara lives with her husband Ryan, who enjoys fabricating off-road buggies and rock crawling with his 4X4 Jeep. They have two young children: Claire, their daughter, loves dancing and is very compassionate towards other people and animals. Noah, Lara’s son, loves cars, trucks, and danger. He has a strong personality but also loves to snuggle.
In her spare time, Dr. Schwab likes to spend time with her family—she’s continually amazed when she sees her, and her husband’s mannerisms appear in her children! She also likes rock crawling in the family 4X4 and horseback riding.
